The Benefits of 100% Pure Beeswax Candles
Beeswax is still unquestionably the best candle making material. Beeswax has been used for millennia by candle makers through out the world. This all natural, renewable, and environmentally friendly wax is natures best.
How it is made:
Young honey bees make the wax which is a byproduct of honey. The young bees feed on the honey then after a few hours they start to produce wax from pockets in their abdomens. The bees then scrape off the beeswax with their legs chew it into pellets and combine the pellets to form the honeycombs.

No human activity or ingenuity could ever replace the work of bees and yet it is largely taken for granted. Bees are the greatest pollinators of crops through out the world. One mouthful in three of the foods you eat directly or indirectly depends on pollination of honey bees. Deceasing bee populations causes billions of dollars of loss in food crops every year. The burning of beeswax candles helps to support local framers by providing additional sources of revenue other than just honey sales there by making apiaries more attractive and increasing the number of beehives.
Our candles are made by hand exclusively in Creston BC by local artisans as they have been since 1958. Minor variations and imperfections are to be expected and are part of the charm of handcrafted candles.
All wax used is 100% beeswax that has been triple filtered to remove the impurities such as dust pollen and residual honey. The filtering process uses only clay, paper and compressed air and no chemicals or other impurities are ever added to our wax during the filtering process. All filtering takes place in our shop so we can insure the quality of the beeswax we use. Filtering is a very important set in the making of beeswax candles, because beeswax will not smoke or soot, but the impurities in the wax will. Raw beeswax still contains these impurities. Candles made from this raw wax are easily identified by their darkish yellow-green color and the grittiness of the wax.
We use only braided cotton wicks in the making of our beeswax candles; and these are all sized according to each individual candle creating a much better burn quality. All candles have been test burnt in our own homes, under regular daily conditions to ensure the good quality burning of each of our candles.
All of our 100% beeswax candles come in the natural color of beeswax. Variation within the natural beige/yellow color range is to be expected and is part of the charm of beeswax. Color is determined by the type of honey produced, protein content of the wax, and how long the wax has remained in the hive.
